Finding Joy

Finding Joy In The Journey- 3 Ways To Align Your Business With Your Deeper Purpose

September 11, 20256 min read

So many entrepreneurs chase success but end up feeling exhausted, unfulfilled, or stuck. I’ve been there myself. You’re doing all the things—launching offers, posting content, signing clients—but at some point, it starts to feel like running on a treadmill.

You're moving fast, yet you're not getting anywhere meaningful.

It's tiring. And honestly, it can make you question whether this whole entrepreneurship thing is even worth it.

But here’s the truth no one tells you: when you build a business without connecting it to your deeper purpose, it’s easy to get lost in the grind. You end up chasing metrics, obsessing over content strategy, trying to scale—and still wondering why it doesn’t feel right.

You might start resenting the business you once dreamed of building.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

What Purpose Looks Like for Me

For me, that deeper purpose has always been freedom—and not just the kind that lets me “work from anywhere.” I’m talking about a deeper, soul-level kind of freedom:

  •  The freedom of finances to create stability and abundance—not just for myself, but for the people I love and serve.

  • The freedom of time—because I don’t want to sacrifice my relationships or miss out on life’s precious moments in the name of “success.”

  • The freedom to care for myself, because self-care isn’t optional. It’s necessary for sustainability.

  • The freedom to nurture my spiritual health, which is what keeps me grounded and connected to something greater than my goals.

When I stay rooted in these values, my business stops being a burden and becomes the very thing that fuels the life I want to live.

And that’s exactly what I want for you, too.

If you’ve been feeling disconnected or burnt out in your business, I want to share three powerful shifts that helped me realign—and find joy in the journey again.

Let’s dive in.

1. Know Yourself First – The Foundation of Purpose

Before you think about scaling strategies, funnels, or booking more clients, pause. Look inward.

The first step to building a purpose-driven business is radical self-awareness.

Ask yourself:

  • What truly matters to me?

  • What do I want this business to give me beyond money?

  • What does success feel like—not just look like?

Too often, we let outside expectations define our business goals. We build based on what others are doing—forgetting that alignment matters more than trends.

For me, freedom is non-negotiable. That means I had to build boundaries and systems that protect my time, energy, and creativity. I had to learn that I can’t pour from an empty cup—or show up in marketing from a place of burnout.

When I work with clients inside WomenWhoBossUp, we always start with the first “P” in my 5 P Framework: Pro.

This is where we uncover:

  • Your unique personal message

  • Your niche

  • Your deeper “why” that fuels your business journey

Because here’s the truth: If you’re not crystal clear on what’s driving your business, you’ll drift.

You’ll chase numbers instead of meaning. You’ll create content that doesn’t convert because it doesn’t connect. And eventually, you’ll burn out.

💬 Takeaway: Clarity is your compass. Without it, you’ll drift. With it, you’ll move toward purpose with confidence.

2. Align Your Business Model with Your Purpose

Here’s something I’ve learned: Joy in business doesn’t just happen. It’s designed.

That starts with making sure your business model supports your deeper purpose, instead of sabotaging it.

If your goal is freedom—but your business keeps you working 10-hour days tied to your laptop—something’s out of alignment.

Ask yourself:

  • Is my current business model helping me live the life I want?

  • Or is it taking me further away from it?

Some shifts that helped me (and many women in our community) include:

  • Creating recurring revenue streams so you’re not always trading time for money.

  • Automating or delegating low-impact tasks that drain your energy.

Designing offers that align with your lifestyle—like digital products, group programs, or self-paced courses that allow you to scale without burning out.

The truth is, your business should be a vehicle—not a prison.

It should move you toward the life you actually want—not trap you in a cycle of busyness that leads nowhere.

💬 Takeaway: A business model that ignores your purpose will eventually burn you out. Design your business intentionally so it gives back to you.

3. Reframe Success as the Journey, Not Just the Destination

This is a big one—especially for women entrepreneurs in the marketing space.

We're constantly shown big launches, six-figure milestones, and highlight reels on Instagram.

But if you only define success by the end goal, you’ll constantly feel like you’re not doing enough. And that’s a toxic cycle.

True joy comes from learning to love the process.

That looks like:

  •  Celebrating progress, not just outcomes. Did you show up when it was hard? That’s a win.

  • Giving yourself flexibility. The path might shift—but your purpose will guide you back.

  • Seeing obstacles not as signs to quit, but as signals to reconnect with your “why.”

One of the biggest mindset shifts I made was realizing this:

The journey itself is the reward.

Every detour. Every lesson. Every pivot. It’s all part of the story you’re meant to tell—and it’s shaping the kind of entrepreneur (and leader) you’re becoming.

💬 Takeaway: When you start finding meaning in the process, your business becomes fulfilling at every stage—not just when you hit a milestone.

Boss Up Tips: Choose Empowered Over Exhausted

Let’s talk about something important:

There’s a difference between momentum and burnout disguised as productivity.

Just because you’re always busy doesn’t mean you’re aligned.

Bossing up doesn’t mean doing more. It means doing what matters with clarity and intention.

Here’s your Boss Up audit:

  • Revisit your systems—Are they supporting your purpose or creating chaos?

  • Say no to what drains you—Protect your energy like it's your currency (because it is).

  • Focus on aligned action—Stop the busywork. Start leading with purpose.

📝 Boss Up Tip: You don’t need to hustle harder. You need to align deeper.

Build From the Inside Out

For me, joy in business is about alignment.

It’s about making sure what I’m building reflects who I am and what I value most: freedom, time, wellness, faith, and deep, soul-satisfying impact.

If you don’t define your deeper purpose, you’ll always risk floating aimlessly—doing more, but feeling less fulfilled.

But when you do the inner work—when you anchor your business to what truly matters—everything starts to align:

  • Your strategies

  • Your content

  • Your clients

  • Your revenue

They all flow from that center... So I’ll leave you with this:

💭 What’s the deeper purpose that will keep you grounded when business gets hard?
